Beyond the classroom.

Not only are you curious in the classroom, you are also interested in meaningful opportunities to give back to others and serve your community. Plan II students are often leaders on campus, in the Austin community, and in the world. No matter your passion, the Plan II program can help you explore and engage in issues you care about, whether in the classroom, through research, and/or just getting out there and doing it.

Plan II has its own civic engagement programs, including a partnership with the Austin KIPP (Knowledge is Power Program) School, where Plan II students mentor a KIPP student for a full year. A student-run tutoring program for KIPP students is also offered. Plan II students can also earn credit for studying the history and social impacts of disease, then get hands-on experience about the issue through internships in the health sector. UT and the city of Austin also offer students a huge variety of volunteer and engagement activities, be it spending a semester in Washington DC, or bike riding to Alaska to raise money for cancer, or starting a sustainable local farm for the campus community, the options are practically endless.

I Plan II change the world.
