Welcome to health & Society
Health & Society is an interdisciplinary major that investigates how social, cultural, economic, and political factors shape health and well-being.
The program was founded on the premise that innovative, interdisciplinary thinking is required for making meaningful contributions to the health sector and improving healthcare quality and access. Our coursework challenges students to think critically about the complex social issues that shape health and health care in the 21st century. Students can expect to learn about a broad range of topics, including health behavior, health policy, and health disparities.
In addition to classroom learning, students have opportunities to engage in service learning, community-based projects, and faculty-mentored research. These hands-on experiences allow students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings, collaborate with local organizations, and contribute to efforts that promote health equity and community wellbeing.
Our degree plan equips students with the skills needed to pursue meaningful careers that advance health and well-being, including clinical roles in the health professions and non-clinical paths in public health, healthcare administration, health policy, consulting, advocacy, and related fields.
