The Liberal Arts Student Division is the undergraduate student facing unit of the Dean's Office. We act on behalf of the Dean and Associate Dean for Student Affairs in close coordination with our Student Affairs colleagues in Advising and Student Engagement to administer student academic records, assist undeclared students explore majors, and help those experiencing difficulty, in and out of the classroom, find support and success. Whether you are exploring majors, applying to graduate, dropping a class, navigating an unexpected non-academic event, or just don't know where else to turn, our expert team of empathetic staff work tirelessly to help Liberal Arts students navigate policies, processes, resources, and opportunities across the 40 Acres.

Exploratory and Undeclared Advising

We are the advising home for Liberal Arts Undeclared students and those in declared majors exploring other possibilities. Our advising team can help you navigate the internal transfer process.

Graduation Certification 

The Student Division certifies undergraduate degrees granted by the College of Liberal Arts and processes all graduating senior and expected degree vertification requests in coordination with the Office of the Registrar.

Drops, Withdrawals, Pass/Fail and Other Registration Changes

Students must complete registration changes with a member of our team in the Student Division. Instructors and major advisors cannot complete these requests for you.

Nationally recognized program for Liberal Arts students facing academic difficulty. Participating students are 25% more likely to avoid scholastic dismissal than non-participants.

Appeals and Exceptions

Requests for exceptions to student policies must be submitted to the Student Division. Frequent requests include raising the maxmimum number of credit hours in a term, taking a graduate course as an undergraduate, and avoiding a scholastic dismissal. Students must initiate exceptions to degree requirements with their major advisor.

VA and NCAA Eligibility Verification

The Student Division determines coursework applicability for student-atheletes and those attending on veteran's education benefits in coordination with the Office of the Registrar.

Degree Checks

Approaching graduation and worried about being on track? These appointments for students in their second to last semester complement, rather than replace, advising in your major and allow us to confirm remaining degree requirements and discuss graduation procedures and deadlines.
